ABOUT

I'm Amelia Gish and I am a photographer and textile artist based in Philadelphia, PA. My work centers heavily around photographic manipulation through digital and physical interventions. I love playing with photographic conventions like color and light by experimenting with different materials in front of the camera lens. A lot of the materials I use are a bit unconventional, like using plastic to blur parts of the image. 

 

In my series, Memory Threads, I explore the fragility of memory through embroidery techniques and manipulations on the surface of the image. Similar to how I use materials with my camera, I am also interested in the interactions between photographic and textile arts.
